Who Gave Me My First Break

It was a great opportunity to pull a community together. We've been looking at these problems for quite a while, and there's problems and solutions — then there's breakthroughs. I think we're at that catalyst where things are going to pop and be a little bit different. It's really exciting to be creating a future instead of just trying to solve problems.

We've had a group of talented developers and financiers, and BitAngels tries to connect founders with capital. We want to build that ecosystem so it can thrive, and I think we've done a good job launching that here in Arizona.

What I'm Building Now

There's 55,000 people in this network in Arizona alone, looking for people who can identify the true problems worth solving. I just had the opportunity to interview AZOS, the winner — collateralized debt positions that can help municipalities keep the lights on. I see amazing talent, and not only talent, but a future worth living inside of. These people are creating the future, and it's a relief to witness that kind of commitment and drive.

Any final words for people looking to attract capital in this space — this room had some of the stiffest competition I've seen. Competition is really a good thing, because this is a collaborative effort. Rather than compete, we collaborate, and we create a whole ecosystem that builds things that work for a better life for everybody.

Future

Where We're Going

This is a collaborative effort. Rather than compete, we collaborate, and to do that we create a whole ecosystem that builds things that work in a better life for everybody. I can't imagine it was easy, but it's worth it.
