Before Monday Night
Everything great comes from risking rejection.
Whether it's asking them out on a date or picking up the 10,000lb telephone — everything great comes from risking rejection.
Now, rejection isn't the whole story. There's something lurking beneath rejection which really makes people afraid: the fear of embarrassment.
It's why there are so few stand-up comedians. If you've ever been on stage, you'll know how lonely it is. You'll know that when you have the mic, there's no one who can save you.
Well — no one who can save you but yourself, that is. If luck is when opportunity meets preparedness, you can't get lucky if you're not prepared.
The feelings you have around rejection and embarrassment are real, and we should not sweep them under the rug. In fact, our fears are very informational. In a lot of ways, our fears are our greatest teachers.
Sales is hard because when you're just starting out, you're not selling a product… you're selling your own credibility.
And so — do you believe in yourself?
Because if you don't believe in yourself, even if you get a buyer on the phone, they won't hear the conviction. And conviction makes the world go round.
